Only the T5, a charged version of the 850 model, was equipped with the 2.3-liter Volvo B5234T turbo engine, which was built at the company’s factory between 1993 and 1996. Other iterations of this motor were known by the names B5234T2 through B5234T9.

The B5234T, B5244S, B5244S2, B5244S4, B5244T, and B5244T3 are the five-cylinder 2.3-2.4-liter modular engine family.

Disadvantages of the B5234T engine
This is a very clever turbo engine that can travel up to 300,000 kilometers with the right maintenance;
High oil consumption is frequently caused by clogged crankcase ventilation;
The turbine shaft may wear out closer to 200,000 kilometers, which is also prone to oil burn;
The unit’s weak points are the upper support, thermostat, pump, and fuel pump. The timing belt does not always serve the planned 120,000 km, and when it breaks, the valves bend.
