Since 2008, the company has been producing the 1.6-liter Opel A16XER or Ecotec LDE engine, which is found in the company’s most well-known models, including the Astra, Zafira, Mokka, and Insignia. The most recent B-series’ Euro 6 engines are now gradually replacing these power units.

A12XER, A14XER, A14NET, A16LET, A16XHT, and A18XER are all part of the A10 line.
The engine was mounted on:
- Opel Astra J (P10) in 2009 – 2015;
- Opel Insignia A (G09) in 2008 – 2012;
- Opel Mokka A (J13) in 2012 – 2018;
- Opel Zafira B (A05) in 2010 – 2011.

Disadvantages of the A16XER engine
The coil module is the weak point in ignition issues, which occur most frequently;
Phase regulators rapidly fail when using non-original oil; lubricant leaks from the heat exchanger, whose gasket is typically rented, rank second;
A crankcase ventilation system malfunction is indicated by a loud whistle under the hood; valve clearances must be changed by choosing cups every 100,000 kilometers.
