Since 2013, the company’s Chinese plant has been producing the 2.5-liter Toyota 5AR-FE engine, which is installed on the company’s front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive models, but only for the local auto market. This unit comes with the Dual VVT-i variable valve timing system in every version.

The engines in the AR family are 6AR-FSE, 8AR-FTS, 2AR-FE, 2AR-FXE, 2AR-FSE, 5AR-FE, and 1AR-FE.
The engine was mounted on:
- Toyota Camry 7 (XV50) in 2015 – 2017;
- Toyota Harrier 3 (XU60) since 2013;
- Toyota RAV4 4 (XA40) in 2013 – 2018.
