Engine Mitsubishi 4J12

The European, Chinese, and American versions of the Outlander crossover are equipped with the 2.4-liter Mitsubishi 4J12 gasoline engine, which has been manufactured at the company since 2013. One 16-valve camshaft and a new cylinder head with VVL set this power unit apart from the 4B12.

Disadvantages of the Mitsubishi 4J12 engine

This motor has a respectable reputation on specialized forums;
Strong vibrations or noisy engines are the main causes of complaints.
The VVL system and the new MIVEC phase regulators have very strict requirements for oil quality; the thermal clearances of the valves must be adjusted about every 50,000 kilometers.
