Only costly modifications of the third generation Mondeo model were equipped with the 2.2-liter Ford QJBB, QJBA, or 2.2 TDCi Duratorq engine, which was manufactured between 2004 and 2007. The Delphi common rail fuel system is known to frequently experience issues with the motor.

The FMBA and JXFA internal combustion engines are also part of the Duratorq-TDCi line.
The engine was installed on:
- Ford Mondeo Mk3 in 2004 – 2007.

Disadvantages of the QJBB/QJBA engine
The Delphi fuel system is in some way connected to the majority of engine issues;
The pump shaft deteriorates and its chips clog the nozzles due to impurities in diesel fuel; the double-row timing chain appears intimidating but is actually 150,000 kilometers long;
A distinctive knock occurs and the upper heads of the connecting rods break after 200,000 kilometers. Vacuum pump and generator failures are frequently reported on specialized forums.
