The popular D-Max pickup truck and the MU-X off-road vehicle are equipped with the 3.0-liter Isuzu 4JJ1 diesel engine, which has been assembled at the Japanese plant since 2004. For commercial vehicles, there are OHV engine versions 4JJ1-T, 4JJ1-X, 4JJ1-TCN, and 4JJ1-TCS.

Diesels 4JB1, 4JX1, 4JG2, 4JJ1, and 4JJ3 are also part of the J-engine line.

Disadvantages of the Isuzu 4JJ1 engine
This diesel engine is powerful and clever, but it also makes a lot of noise and vibrates a lot.
Although the Denso fuel system is very dependable, it requires high-quality diesel fuel.
Although the timing chain has a long lifespan, its hydraulic tensioner can already fail after 200,000 kilometers.
After cleaning the EGR valve, this power unit’s numerous issues are resolved.
Since there are no hydraulic lifters here, you must periodically adjust the valves.
