Disadvantages of the HR15DE engine
Although the engine is thought to be fairly dependable, the owners have some issues with it.
You must choose tappets to modify the valve clearances once every 100,000 kilometers.
The timing chain stretches and begins to rattle violently after 150,000 kilometers;
Oil scraper rings typically lie closer to 200,000 kilometers, necessitating a full overhaul; the alternator belt typically whistles under the hood, but the sound goes away after tightening.
