From 1995 until 2001, the company produced the 2.7-liter Nissan TD27ETi diesel engine, which was fitted to the Caravan minibus and the well-known Pathfinder and Terrano SUVs. The power unit’s electronically operated high pressure fuel pump sets it apart from its family.

The TD23, TD25, TD27, and TD42 internal combustion engines are part of the TD series.
The engine was mounted on:
- Nissan Caravan E24 in 1995 – 2001;
- Nissan Mistral R20 in 1996 – 1999;
- Nissan Pathfinder 2 (R50) in 1995 – 1999;
- Nissan Terrano II (R20) in 1996 – 1999.

Disadvantages of the TD27ETi engine
The high pressure fuel pump is somehow linked to all of this diesel engine’s most frequent malfunctions;
Cleaning the positioner typically helps with thrust failures and floating engine speeds;
Additionally, the fuel system’s meshes and filters must be cleaned on a regular basis;
Glitches in the air flow and crankshaft position sensor cause numerous issues;
The corrugation connecting the turbine to the air filter is another weak point.
