Since 2012, models with the PureTech 82 index have been equipped with the 1.2-liter, three-cylinder Peugeot EB2 or HMX engine. However, the EB2F engine is gradually replacing it. There are various variations of this power unit, including EB2D, EB2FA, EB2FD, and EB2FAD.
The EB family of engines includes EB0, EB2, EB2M, EB2DT, EB2DTS, and EB2ADTX.

Disadvantages of the Peugeot EB2 engine
A recall campaign was implemented for engines from the initial years because of the crankshaft’s axial play.
Many complaints regarding the oil burner after 100,000 kilometers of operation can also be found on specialized forums.
However, the timing belt in the oil bath is the primary issue here.
Its wear products clog oil channels, and it wears out quickly.
This engine’s oil pump is short-lived for the same reason.
