Base models of the 208 and the comparable second-generation Citroen C3 were equipped with the Peugeot EB0 or ZMZ 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engine, which was manufactured from 2012 to 2017. The EB0F index is used to modify such a power unit to meet stricter Euro 6 environmental standards.

The EB family of engines includes EB0, EB2, EB2M, EB2DT, EB2DTS, and EB2ADTX.

Disadvantages of the Peugeot EB0 engine
A recall campaign was implemented for these engines because of crankshaft axial play.
After 100,000 kilometers of running, there are numerous complaints about oil consumption on specialized forums.
However, the timing belt in the oil bath is the motor’s primary issue.
Its wear products clog oil channels, and it wears out very quickly.
For units in this series, the oil pump does not last very long because of this.
