Since 2012, the company has assembled the 1.2-liter Peugeot EB2M or HMY petrol engine, which is fitted to low-cost models like the 301 and the comparable Citroen C-Elysee 1.2 VTi. This power unit is basically an EB2 motor without a phase regulator that has been simplified.

The EB family of engines includes EB0, EB2, EB2M, EB2DT, EB2DTS, and EB2ADTX.

Disadvantages of the Peugeot EB2M engine
A recall campaign regarding the axial play of the crankshaft was implemented for engines from the initial years.
Additionally, oil consumption is common on engines with a mileage of more than 100,000 kilometers.
However, the timing belt in the oil bath is the most problematic component.
Its wear products clog the oil channels and it wears out rather quickly.
This is the reason this power unit’s oil pump doesn’t last very long.
