Up until its initial redesign, the 5.0-liter Volkswagen AJS or Phaeton V10 5.0 TDI engine was only found on the Phaeton executive class sedan. It was assembled between 2002 and 2006. This motor came in AYH, BKW, BLE, and BWF index versions for the Touareg SUV.

AAB, AJT, ACV, AXG, BAC, BPE, AXD, AXE, AJS, and AYH are also included in the EA153 series.

Disadvantages of the VW AJS engine
First of all, the turbines in this diesel engine are a relatively small resource.
The timing gear mechanism is also not very dependable.
Tandem pumps and unit injectors frequently have leaks in their seals.
Shedding of the cylinder walls’ coating is frequently observed over time.
The generator and air conditioner clutch are two more areas where this unit is weak.
