Disadvantages of the VW BDN engine
The motor is afraid of overheating, so you must keep a close eye on the cooling system;
Scuffing rapidly develops in the cylinders as a result of frequent overheating and poor oil;
Oil waste starts in the raised cylinders, which is complicated by the liners’ rotation;
The timing chain needs to be adjusted after about 200,000 kilometers, at which point the unit must be removed;
Additionally, the engine’s pump, ignition coils, and computer wiring are weak points.
