Engine Volkswagen JX

The Volkswagen JX 1.6 TD, a 1.6-liter turbocharged diesel engine, was built between 1984 and 1992 and fitted to a number of variations of the well-liked Transporter T3 minibus. This diesel was notorious for its low power, loud operation, and frequent cylinder head cracking.

Disadvantages of the VW JX engine

Above all, the aluminum cylinder head of these diesel engines frequently cracks due to their fear of overheating;
High pressure fuel pump leaks are the second most common;
Every 60,000 kilometers, the timing belt is changed; if it breaks, the cylinder head is typically replaced;
The engine turbine frequently begins to drive oil closer to 150–200 thousand kilometers; on runs longer than 200,000 kilometers, an oil burner and lubricant leaks are frequently discovered.
