Disadvantages of the Audi AFB engine
The camshaft cams and rockers’ quick wear is the most well-known issue;
Second, there are issues with the Bosch VP44 electronically operated high-pressure fuel pump;
Crankcase ventilation filters clog easily and require frequent cleaning;
The antiquated film-type MAF is characterized by poor engine reliability;
Oil leaks can occur from under the valve cover and at the block’s joints with the sump.
