The company produced the 4.0-liter V8 Jaguar AJ28 petrol engine from 1999 to 2002, but it was only fitted to sophisticated S-Type sedan modifications prior to its initial redesign. This motor was an adaptation of the AJ26 unit found on the XK sports model.

AJ-V8 series: AJ126, AJ27, AJ27S, AJ28, AJ33, AJ33S, AJ34, AJ34S, AJ133, and AJ133S.

Disadvantages of the Jaguar AJ28 engine
The timing chain is characterized by a low resource, sometimes serving less than 100,000 kilometers; the initial motors in this series had nikasil, but the AJ28 version had cast iron sleeves;
Additionally, the engine ECU frequently malfunctions here, so it’s best to update the firmware right away;
This engine keeps an eye on the state of the radiators, pump, and thermostat because it fears overheating;
The remaining issues are associated with sensor malfunctions and lubricant or antifreeze leaks.
