The 1.3-liter Nissan QG13DE engine, also known as QG13 for short, was manufactured in Japan between 1998 and 2012 and was primarily used in local models and vehicles intended for the Southeast Asian market. Being the newest model in the line, this power unit is extremely uncommon.

The QG15DE, QG16DE, QG18DE, and QG18DD internal combustion engines are also members of the QG family.
The engine was mounted on:
- Nissan AD 3 (Y11) in 1999 – 2005;
- Nissan Sentra N16 in 2005 – 2012;
- Nissan Sunny 5 (B15) in 1998 – 2006;
- Nissan Sylphy N16 in 2000 – 2012.

Disadvantages of the QG13DE engine
The typical range of a short-lived timing chain is between 120 and 150 thousand kilometers;
A dirty throttle is typically the cause of floating engine speeds;
The thermal clearances of the valves must be modified because there are no hydraulic lifters present;
You will need to replace the alternator belt since it is the cause of the whistle under the hood;
It is possible for the engine’s combustion chamber to absorb the crumbs of the collapsing catalyst.
