From 1995 to 1999, the company’s plant assembled the 2.5-liter turbo Volvo B5254T engine, which was installed on several of the group’s popular models at the time, including the C70, S70, and V70. Such a power unit was given a slightly different B5244T index following modernization in 1999.

The B5252S, B5254S, B5254T, B5254T2, B5254T3, B5254T4, and B5254T6 are the five-cylinder 2.5-liter modular engine family.
The engine was mounted on:
- Volvo 850 in 1995 – 1996;
- Volvo C70 I (872) in 1997 – 1999;
- Volvo S70 I (874) in 1996 – 1999;
- Volvo V70 I (875) in 1996 – 1999.

Disadvantages of the B5254T engine
This motor is extremely dependable since it lacks an electric choke and phase regulator.
Because of crankcase ventilation contamination, the oil burner is most frequently discussed in specialized forums;
After 200 thousand kilometers, turbine shaft wear is typically the reason for oil consumption;
The timing belt must be replaced every 90,000 kilometers in accordance with regulations, and when it breaks, the valves always bend. Additionally, the engine mounts, pump, thermostat, and fuel pump all have short lifespans.
