From 2000 to 2010, the Chrysler EJD 1.6-liter gasoline engine was manufactured in Brazil and used in the PT Cruiser and Neon, two of the company’s models intended for the European auto market. This Tritec motor is also well-known for the Chinese Lifan 520 and Mini small cars.

The Tritec engine series only includes this particular unit.
The engine was installed on:
- Chrysler Neon 2 (PL) in 2000 – 2004;
- Chrysler PT Cruiser 1 (PT) in 2000 – 2010.

Disadvantages of the EJD engine
The fuel pump, which is frequently replaced even after 100,000 kilometers, is the internal combustion engine’s weak point; poor fuel rapidly clogs the injectors and the rail pressure regulator;
The electronic choke, or more specifically, its connectors and contacts, cause numerous issues;
The timing chain may already be stretched and the rockers’ rollers will deteriorate closer to 200,000 kilometers;
Purchasing an analog is preferable because the original expansion tank frequently bursts at the seam.
